Project Outline
The Pippin Project is a practical music and arts-based educational project that is taking place in four rural communities across Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire. The aim of the project is to imaginatively engage groups of school children in a series of creative and musical wassailing workshops that will raise the awareness of and celebrate the rich heritage and value of Orchards. Each piece of work will culminate in the creation of a new Orchard and a series of live performances in each location.
Purpose
i. VALUE – Promote an understanding of the beauty, value, heritage and distinctiveness of Orchards
ii. GUARDIANSHIP – Instil a sense of ownership & pride in the creative process, the planting & creation of a new Orchard
iii. CREATIVE SPIRIT – Offer an opportunity to unlock and express the creative spirit in all participants through a variety of mediums including visual art, creative writing and music.
iv. CELEBRATION – A recognition of both the spirit of the trees and that of all participants in contributing to the shared experience.
v. LEGACY – The creation of four new Orchards, each with an accompanying Manifesto derived throughout the workshop process that ensures their up-keep, nurturing and sustainability.
